02/14/2022: Weekly Briefing

I wrote last week about looking to consolidate my investments into fewer accounts so it was easier to manage. My update this week is that…well…my dog ate my homework…? Too many things came up this week, so it’s rolling over to my to do list for next week. (Forgive me!)

In the meantime, I thought it was really interesting that Larry David did the FTX superbowl commercial (and first ad ever). Apparently he doesn’t get crypto, which is supposed to make the commercial funnier/more ironic…but if you’re getting paid to do an ad for crypto, and associating your name to a crypto company, aren’t you in effect promoting it?

Jeff Schaffer, director of the video, said FTX “had the grapes to make an ad where Larry David says he won’t use the product”, but even if you don’t actually use the product, your name brand and your paycheck are very much aligned with the product…so I think it shows you’re still standing behind the product, right?

P.S. I wonder how much he got paid to do that ad.

Money & Crypto

Etc.

I also realized that I included an article about the Salvator Mundi’s $450M sale back in 2017 in my weekly ‘Procrastination’ email. For those of you newer readers, ‘Procrastination’ was my version1 of Wallet Street. I wrote about interesting articles/podcasts that I had read/listened to with my family and friends. This later would evolve to become a more formalized weekly briefing on money/tech/crypto (and into Wallet Street)…but I’ve still kept the ‘Etc.’ section as an homage to the ‘Procrastination’ email that started this all. (Maybe I should go back to calling this section Procrastination? lol)
